‘Rain rain go away…’

T’was a blustery start to the New Year at Dyrham Towers. It was good to see everyone again after the festive break, and for the first time ever, I had actually missed being at work! The wind and rain were not helping however and on our walk-round to continue with the winter clean schedule, we noticed the windows were, ‘a little damp’. Time to call in the experts! Luckily we already have one in the form of the lovely Colette Cuddihy, who is the project manager for Dyrham’s extensive ‘Conservation Works’ project, which will include a new boiler, new roof, new electrics, new stone work, new visitor experience. Quite the make-over. Now what Colette doesn’t know is not worth knowing (so she tells me!) and she was on hand to assess the situation for us. The rain had been almost horizontal at one point and had managed to creep in through gaps in the windows on the west side of the house. After a careful mop-up we prayed for the rain to cease. I think the garden team would join in with us on that!
